Who checks the numbers on this site, how they are checked, and what we are not.

Who we are
renoco.ca is run by a small, independent team based in Ontario. We are not affiliated with any contractor, lender, insurer, or product maker. We do not sell leads, take referral fees, or pass your details to anyone, and nobody pays to appear in a guide.
How content is reviewed
- Program rules, rebate amounts, tax figures, and deadlines are checked against the body that administers them: the federal department, the province, the city, or the utility.
- Every guide ends with a Sources list. Each source shows the date we opened it and re-checked the fact it backs.
- Cost figures come from our own cost model, which is checked against published Canadian price guides. Where a figure has no published source, the guide labels it a rough estimate.
- Cost data is reviewed on a schedule. The current data was reviewed October 23, 2026, and the next review is due January 31, 2027.
- If we cannot confirm a number, we leave it out rather than guess.
What we are not
We are not licensed contractors, engineers, lawyers, mortgage brokers, or insurance advisers. Everything here is educational planning information. It is not a quote, a permit approval, or legal, tax, engineering, insurance, or financial advice. Confirm anything that matters with a qualified local professional and your municipality. Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and record the change in the public changelog, with the date and the pages affected. Spotted a figure that looks wrong? Report an error.
