Compare renovation quotes side by side
Most renovation disputes come from different assumptions, not bad work. Ask every contractor the same questions and record the answers in one place.
Your working checklist
Tick items off, add a row per contractor, and write your own notes. Everything stays in your browser and prints exactly as you leave it.

Before you send anything out
- Write one scope of work and send the identical version to everyone
- Include your budget range only if you want quotes shaped to it
- Ask for line items, not a single lump sum
- Request proof of insurance and WSIB coverage
- Confirm who arranges permits and inspections
The renovation calculator exports a scope summary you can attach to each request.
Reading the quotes you get back
- Add missing items to the cheaper quotes at your own estimated cost
- Compare adjusted totals, not the original numbers
- Treat a large outlier as a sign that something is excluded
- Check how change orders are priced and approved
